Unfortunate

Seeing what is fed to me through the black box

Makes my stomach turn

Makes my eyes water

And makes my heart drop

I see children from a far starving

While the rich throw away what they've got

I see ungrateful people

I see an unfortunate lot

If people would only help and give to the poor

If people would only learn like they did before

If we didn't care so much about looking like the models on tv

If our littles girls didn't deprive themselves of eating

If our little boys weren't encouraged to have sex

If we didn't praise them everytime they laid a prep

If we didn't care about the money in our pockets

And were content with living life just to love it

If we didn't stress about trying to make it

If we would only realize that we had clothes on our back

Instead of being naked

If we quit closing our eyes to what happens outside of our home

If we would finally speak up to what we believe is wrong

If we would finally give up trying to be rascist

If we would only love eachother no matter the color of our faces

If only we'd stop relying on material things to make us happy

If only our country would allow true democracy to happen

If only we could all live in our dream home

Instead of trailers, cars, streets, and front doors

If only we could provide our children with what they really needed

Insteaded of encouraging them to care about their social image

If only we would rise up and tell our government what we thought

Instead we're left at home being fed through our black box.

Everyday we are given an unhealthy serving of violence

And subliminal messages that is changing our society into ignorant and lazy people

Instead of educating ourselves to what is really out there.

We know that things go on..but who cares as long as we're left alone..
